1c Mills QT “SWEETHEART” – Penny Play
I always feel fortunate when I am able to buy a slot machine in original unmolested condition. This machine was built in 1942 and is cast-iron because aluminum was not available. Mills Novelty Company, the manufacturer, was essentially a machine shop and converted to building gun parts for the war effort. But their original business was slot machines, so when they could, they built a few slot machines right during the middle of World War II. This is such an example. It retains the original paint & locks with matching keys. It’s original location was the Tonopah Stage Stop. I am the 3rd owner of this rare original one cent slot machine. It is known as the QT because it is small and could be lifted on to the counter on the QT. It is known as the “Sweetheart” because of the heart designed into the casting.

ROTARY MERCHANDISER by EXHIBIT From Lagoon resort in Northern Utah comes this fun-to-play arcade machine. It was changed to a quarter a long time ago.[ I’ve thought of changing it to the new dollar coin] It has art deco styling. We have refinished it to it’s beautiful original wood. There is a turn table in the middle that the player controls when it stops, an arm tries to push prizes up to the chute for him to get. Lubed, oiled, ready to go…. $1800 ———————————————————–

RESTORED MILLS OWL SLOT MACHINE

This is the one that started Mills Novelty Company’s success.  They actually made these Owl machines before they used the Owl logo.  The Owl was so successful that they incorporated the symbol on all their products from then on until their demise in the 1950s.  Fifty years the Mills Company dominated the slot machine industry, and it had started with this.  This one was restored years ago by Orrin Yaeger, of Denver CO.  He was meticulous in his work.  This machine features copper flash plating, quarter sawn oak, and a fabulous lithographed pin wheel.  I have enjoyed it for years, for $17,000 you can enjoy it many more.

PAUL BUNYON’S MUSICAL STUMP
This is a wonderful ABSOLUTLY one of a kind 5c musical tree stump. It was custom made in the 1950′s for Paul Bunyon Center in Minnesota. I bought it in rough shape the year it closed: 2003.
This is ingenious! It incorporates an old cob organ that has been motorized, and resets after it plays it’s tune. The Marquee says “Paul’s musical stump, melodies aged in wood”. It has undergone a huge restoration and it plays and works wonderful.
